Project: Detroit Public Safety Headquarters
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Developer/Owner/Manager: Wayne County
Architect of Record: The Smith Group

This project included the redevelopment of the seven-story, 460,000-square-foot Detroit Public Safety Headquarters.

Redesigned by The SmithGroup, the gray and green building at Third and Abbott was built as an Internal Revenue Service data center in 1974 and was used as a temporary casino by MGM Grand Detroit from 1995 until 2005. The building now houses police, fire, EMS, homeland security and a state police forensics laboratory.

HMA provided the design of the building automation systems.
